A Plus successfully applied for and was awarded 2019 Going PRO talent funds. These grant funds helped offset approximately 50% of the costs of the apprentices’, both first year and beyond, class room training. A Plus pays the wages for all apprentices from its general operating funds. A Plus has successfully retained 5 of the 8 apprentices from the 2019 award. Of the three not continuing classroom training sponsored by A Plus, one apprentice completed his 4 years of training and is sitting for his journeyman test at this point in time. A Plus is proud of the apprentice’s success and completion to this point in time. Two apprentices decided to continue to pursue their electrical careers with other employers, one moving completely out of the area to be closer to his family. While the retention rate is not 100%, A Plus is very pleased with the successful education of the apprentices. A Plus has continued to see an increase in revenue in 2019 YTD over the prior period, in part due to the additional specialization in the petroleum fueling systems market as well as the addition of field staff to provide services locally within mid-Michigan. The retention of the staff has allowed A Plus to be able to schedule most service calls within a few days to 1 week, depending upon the urgency of the customer need.
